I always loved the idea of potato bread, although the market versions never seemed to have the flavour I remembered from my childhood. This is why I decided to make my own potato bread. And I must confess it is as delicious as I remember.
The potato bread is heavy, with a strong flavour. It almost doesn’t matter what you are cooking, as long as you can eat it with a slice of this bread.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup from the water in wich the potatoes have boiled
1/2 cup of smashed potatoes
3 tbl butter
1 teaspoon of sugar

2 packs of dry yeast

I've been searching for a recipe, in English :), for cartofi taranesti. My nephew from the US just spent a month with us touring Romania and fell in love. Do you have one you could post?
Love your blog! Gorgeous and inspiring.
Susan
@ Susan – i have here a recipe for cartofi taranesti http://amainbucatarie.blogspot.com/2008/11/curcan-la-cuptor-cu-cartofi-taranesti.html
there are many ways to cook them.
I will translate you the recipe:
Boil about 10 potatoes and after they cooled a little cut them into cubes.
Meanwhile in a pan fry one onion, one red pepper and when they are roast add over them one egg and mix.
Add this mixture over the cut potatoes, season with salt pepper and parsley.
Hope you like it 🙂
E foarte gustoasa painea.
